These are the rules every member accepts on joining. They exist so that a group of motorcycles moving at speed behaves like one predictable thing rather than twenty unpredictable ones.
Before the ride
- Licence, registration and insurance valid and with you.
- Helmet, gloves, jacket, boots. Every ride, every season.
- Fuel up before the meet time, not at it.
- Be at the meet point ten minutes before kickstands up. The group leaves on time.
- Do not ride if you are tired, unwell, or have been drinking. Tell the road captain and stand down. Nobody will think less of you.
On the road
- Ride in staggered formation. Keep your position. Do not overtake inside the group.
- The road captain sets the pace. The sweep rides last and accounts for every bike.
- Never pass the road captain. Never drop behind the sweep.
- Pass hand signals down the line. If you receive one, give it.
- If a rider stops, the sweep stops. Do not all pull over — it creates a bigger hazard than the one you are helping with.
- Obey the speed limit and the traffic law. The patch is visible; so is your riding.
Conduct
- Respect the public, the police, and other clubs.
- Club colours are not worn while intoxicated.
- Chapter business stays in the chapter.
- Disputes go to the Sergeant at Arms, then to the committee. Never to social media.
Membership standing
- Dues are annual. A lapsed membership suspends riding rights until it is settled.
- Keep your record current — especially your licence expiry, insurance expiry, and emergency contact.
- Your blood type and next of kin are held so a marshal can act at the roadside. They are shown to officers only, and only on the ride roster.
